A New Year

We've decided that we are more than ready for 2010 to be history. It was just kind of a rough year. I wish I could say that it was nothing life-altering, but it kind of was. We started off the year great. Then it kind of felt like the chaos started. Or at least it felt like that to me. On the morning of Ella's birthday, Phil called me. His boss, who was my best friend's husband, had a massive heart attack and he was gone. That brought on a huge work load, long hours.
Nora was born.

And the next few months were a blurr. I remember a few times rocking her in the chair and crying. I still don't know the struggles she may face in the future. And it's as hard to think about now as it was then. But this little girl is so happy, her hand is never the first thing people notice about her.
Then my great grandpa died. He lived a long life and it was just his time to go. Even though I didn't know him very well, it was a loss. I wish I could've brought Nora to see them before he went.
Then, my aunt died. Much too soon. Her car hit ice and her car rolled off the road. It was sad. I still get sad when it comes up. I wish I'd been able to tell her I loved her, and taken the time to see her more.

And while we were there, I took the opportunity to see my great Grandma Elnora, Nora's namesake. I'm so glad I did.

Then my moms aunt died. I didn't know her. She was on her way during our family reunion and I remember Grandpa talking to her family.
And then, last week, a family friend died of cancer. He was 23. I'm going to be 25 this weekend. Wow.
And I guess that leads me to the point of this post. While reflecting on goals, things I want to do, learn and do better at this year, I have one that stands out above all the rest: I want everyone that I love, to KNOW that l love them. If I go before them, or they go before me, I want them to know. So, this year, I'm going to do my BEST to show them I love them. I want my kids to know, I want my husband, my parents, my siblings, to KNOW that I hold them dear to my heart. Live with no regrets, don't ever hold back a hug, and over-use I Love You.

That is a great goal for the new year! Hope 2011 doesn't have as much heartache and sadness!
