So happy...

So happy that nothing is going to hold this girl back. She does everything that I worried, lost sleep and cried over when she was born. Tonight she crawled out of the tub because I was playing the piano, so I hurried to get her dressed and she ran, literally to the piano, crawled up on the bench and 'played' for probably ten minutes before she started to play with her feet and I decided it was time to get down. Maybe I have another Jon Schmidt on my hands!
But seriously, isn't it amazing what they figure out? Phil had a coworker send this to him. I watch it often and am trying to get the sheet music so I can learn it and teach it to her.

It hasn't been in vain!

So, I started doing my own little preschool with Ella. Kid brains are so absorbent, I've been impressed. We are only on the letter I, but she can now write A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H, and can identify all the letters, colors, and some words. And this! She can write her name on a good day, when she wants to cooperate! I was thrilled. She loves anything to do with the sun, stars, moon, earth, and I've found a lot of fun little things that she wants to do every day we have 'school'. She starts two-day-a-week preschool next month and I'm most excited for her. I think she'll like it.

The house is 'broken'. We decided to finally bite the bullet and just get it done. We knew it needed to be done when we bought the house. We were getting quotes done and had it brought to our attention that there is two layers of shingles, on top of cedar shakes. Are you kidding me folks? What a mess. It's day 3, and I haven't really been out to see the progress, but from all the banging and thumps on the roof, I hope it's looking good today. I know that yesterday, if you looked in our attic, you could see the sky. Yeah, we needed new under layment and the whole nine yards. I'm starting to not like old houses anymore. The shingles get here on Tuesday, and I'm thinking it will take until then to get everything off. Woof.

Summer

Pretty much love this picture. The girls are loving going outside, even thought it's too hot for comfort. They are both tan little things these days. We've had birthday parties, the July 4th celebrations, swimming lessons, running through the sprinklers, gardening, roasting hot dogs, it's been good. And I'm sad to think that July is almost over. Better get some in...

Been a while...again...

I'm just not good at this blogging thing. But, I am happy to say that inspiration has struck the Ellsworth household! I am finding a ton of things on how to organize and decorate, and just make our home a happy place to be! I can't wait for it to be this way, but in the mean time, it kind of is...a mess...
But, I did manage to get the upstairs painted. Loving the new light color.
Before...

And this is the only wall that is close to done. And close is a relative term this week.

This is above the fireplace. I redid that with white. Loving is so far. I'll repost another picture when it doesn't look like this. The tile was supposed to be in today, but it didn't happen. Hopefully tomorrow.
